In a first for deal of the week, this game is something that hasn’t featured in any other deal posted on the site, but is a great little game at a reasonable price and has a rather interesting selling point…

Chime was released just a few days ago for the bargain price of 400 Microsoft points (which works out at £3.40). It’s a fun single player puzzle game much like Lumines or Tetris and the aim of the game is to place blocks into groups of 3×3 blocks which can then be expanded to cover the play area. The blocks make sounds in time to the music as a ‘beat bar’ passes across the screen. It’s a difficult sort of game to describe, so a trailer from the developers might help:

There are 6 levels featuring music by some well known artists such as Moby, Paul Hartnoll (Orbital), Philip Glass, Fred Deakin (Lemon Jelly) and Markus Schulz.  This may not seem like much, but there’s a couple of different play modes and considering the price point, seems very reasonable.  It can be a very relaxing and hypnotic experience playing this game, and the online leaderboards encourage a bit of friendly competition against your Xbox Live friends.

One of the unique things about this game is that at least 60% of the purchase price of the game goes to the OneBigGame charity initiative, with the majority of money going to Save the Children and Starlight Children’s foundation.  I think that it’s really good to see interesting ways to donate to charity, and the fact that this is a good game and reasonably priced make it well worth picking up.

A free demo is also available.
