Deal of the Week – Lego Rock Band (360/PS3/Wii)

DOTW_Blank

Lego Batman was one of the great offers last week, and now we have Lego Rock Band this week, the world seems to have gone Lego crazy!

Available for just £17.95 on the XBox 360, Playstation 3 and Wii this is a family friendly version of the popular music rhythm game series.  The main appeal is some great pop records if you find some of the usual Rock Band tracks a bit difficult or unfamiliar.  The Lego characters add a certain amount of charm and humour to the proceedings and uses the same idea of collecting studs to buy new characters and Lego objects to use in the game.

Built on top of the Rock Band 2 engine, this has a similar sort of career progression but it adds a bit of fun with some really great boss battles at the end of each stage.

The range of songs is quite good and there’s a large number of well known British artists in the game. My only criticism is that compared to Rock Band 2, the number of tunes is significantly less. This can become annoying as you will get the same tracks repeated over and over, but at least you can use any of your Rock Band DLC tracks to break this up a little. The game also includes a code to allow you to export all the Lego tracks to be used in the main Rock Band games, so this is a great way to get more songs into the main game (for a small extra fee, confirmed availability on the 360 but not sure if this is available on the PS3 or Wii versions).
